Meet the Maker

Welcome to Fog Woman Designs! I'm passionate about creating unique, handcrafted pieces that blend techniques, eras, and cultures.

My Jewelry Story

My name is Aristea Saulsbury. While I only began beadwork formally in 2021, I have always been a maker. I enjoy beadwork, carving, chainmail, and many other handicrafts, and I try to blend styles where I can. Originally the brand was Aiyyuekween Beads--a play on the Yurok greeting. In late 2025, the brand became Fog Woman Designs in order to make sure the site is easier to remember and spell than my own name.

A Bit About Me

I am Yurok and Tolowa, living on unceded Wiyot territory. I have spent my whole life along the Redwood Coast. I am a big believer in community and collaboration, so I work with Indigenous and non-Indigenous folks to build systems of support. I have one child and one dog--both of whom get annoyed by my maker messes. And I love to create. I hope you like what I have made.

Regalia

I will not sell regalia here or anywhere else, but I am proud to contribute to ceremony by creating meaningful pieces for lovely people.

Beaded Capes

Beaded capes are a big commitment but produce a gorgeous result. You may find capes occasionally sold on this site.

Necklaces

A few of my necklaces are available in the One of a Kind Collection. Necklaces are inspired by the materials and are always unique.

Carving

A newer skill, I am working to determine how carving might be incorporated into my jewelry work. My family has carved canoes for generations and this reminds me of a childhood filled with wood shavings.
